Background
South Africa has made significant progress toward achieving the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets for HIV control, with recent data showing improvements in antiretroviral therapy (ART) coverage across all genders and age groups. However, gaps remain, particularly among men, who are disproportionately underrepresented in HIV treatment and prevention efforts. Men tend to have lower health-seeking behavior, often presenting at healthcare facilities with advanced stages of illness, including HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
To address this, the Men’s Sector is developing a Framework that is designed to accelerate access to and retention in health services for men, improve health outcomes, and reduce mortality and morbidity related to HIV and other diseases. This framework be presented at the launch of a national men’s health campaign with a sustainable, integrated agenda for men’s health and wellness across South Africa.
