The department of Sports, Arts and Culture has established Silapha Wellness programme that assist creative sector practitioners, which include youth, in dealing with personal challenges they face in their work. We are having this as a 24/7/365 service that is a phone call away. We urge youth in the sector to take advantage of this free service.

The Department also funds Incubator Programmes in most our entities, which offer development of creative sector skills. The focus of the programmes is for development of young people, and these are aligned to the National Youth Policy 2022:
The Arts Education and Training programme is focusing on programmes for youth in school and consist of projects that support our collaborations with the Department of Basic Education.
The Arts Access programme is about giving second chances to young people and uses arts, culture and heritage to rehabilitate juvenile offenders.
The Debut Fund Project on the other hand is a young entrepreneurs, who ultimately get their creative industries enterprises being launched.
The Youth In Arts Platform engages young people to unpack government policies, be exposed to the ins-and-outs of the Creative Industries and establishment of Provincial Youth In Arts Platform Forums.
The Young Patriots Programme is the Department’s National Youth Service Programme (NYSP) and is implemented in all provinces. The Young Patriots, as participants are trained in mental toughness, Breaking Barriers to Entry (National School of Government), national symbols (especially the National Anthem and National Flag, Bureau of Heraldry), patriotism and participate in all National Days as part of pre-national days dialogues. This year each Young Patriot will adapt a school of their own, to ensure that it has a flag, it has sporting activities and assist with school registration of learners.
