As SANAC Civil Society Forum (CSF) and the Community Constituency COVID-19 Front (CCF), we wish Ms. Steve Letsike, the Chair person and Co-Chair person respectively a speedy recovery after testing positive for COVID19. Ms. Letsike tested positive on Monday the 27th July 2020 after experiencing mild symptoms over the weekend. She sought medical attention from Steve Biko Hospital and Tshwane District Hospital.
She will remain in self isolation in line with WHO protocols from home over the next 10 days whilst her health remains monitored.
Those she might have come into contact with over the past week have been informed and are also taking the necessary precautions to self-isolate. Staff of Access Chapter 2 where Ms. Letsike is the Executive Director will continue to work observing regulation set by Government. She was working remotely for over a week, as a result they were not exposed.
Our primary focus as CSF and the CCF is to limit the number of infections and save more lives through active community-based measures. It is crucial now more than ever for government to double its efforts as we approach the peak as the epicenter of COVID19.
We are in this together and must continue playing our part in observing physical distancing, washing hands regularly and wearing a mask at all times.
We encourage all South Africans to be safe by taking the necessary precautions against the virus, particularly as we reach the peak of infections. Practicing good hand hygiene and the consistent use of face masks cannot be overstated.
